Davi Carvajal was one of the main names missing as Spain announced its preliminary squad for the FIFA World Cup 2026.
According to Spanish dailies Marca and Diario AS, head coach Luis de la Fuente has chalked up a list for his potential squad for the final tournament, scheduled between June 11 and July 20.
Spain, which won the European Championship in 2024, will start the tournament as one of the favourites. However, it will sweat over the fitness of first-team stars such as Rodri – a Ballon d’Or winner – and Lamine Yamal, who finished behind him on that list, in 2025.
La Roja Furia has been drawn with Saudi Arabia, Uruguay and Cape Verde, and will start their campaign against Cape Verde on June 15.
