British expat orders first steak meal in Benidorm is floored with what turns up

Harry Poulton has lived in Benidorm for around 10 years and only just treated himself to his first steak meal in Spain – and there were a few elements which left him speechless

A man who left the UK for life in sunny Spain enjoyed his first steak meal in Benidorm – and he was pleasantly surprised. There are many reasons why people would leave life here for Spain, more often it’s due to craving more sunshine.

Now Harry Poulton has been living it up in Benidorm for a decade and he only just recently had his first steak meal there. On a hunt to find a “decent” place for steak, Harry stumbled into the Old Town’s back streets for an “absolute hidden gem”. He shared the clip in order to inspire Brits who are planning a trip to the Spanish destination.

In a TikTok clip with his 67,300 followers, Harry began: “I’m on the hunt for a decent steakhouse in Benidorm and I think I’ve finally found one…”

He stopped outside the Entrecôte Steakhouse Salsa Café de Paris, a new restaurant in Benidorm which opened just last month. As Harry said, it’s located in the Old Town and specialises in charcoal-grilled premium meats served with their signature sauce.

First he took a glance at the menu and spotted the “absolutely fantastic starters”. But it got even better when he flicked over to the mains and found a good selection of meats all aged up to 21 days.

He ordered himself a Coca Cola before a waiter arrived with the selection of meats which he can choose from. Harry was gobsmacked as he said: “Oh my goodness I was not expecting this.”

The waiter then listed the meats on offer which included a 500g Ribeye steak, 1kg Ribeye on the bone, fillet steak and the Entrecôte steak, which is a sirloin. There was also a pork rib which was the only one matured 21 days.

He also mentioned the meats all come from Galicia – northwestern Spain.

Harry wasted no time in selecting the Entrecôte and asked the waiter for it to be cooked well done. In another clip, Harry shows fans how much he enjoyed the meal.

First was some bread with aioli before the main meal arrives in a “beautiful” presentation.

Speaking about the grub, Harry admitted: “Now I’ve not had a steak in a proper long time and I’m not even sure I’ve had a steak in Benidorm.

“But here I am and I’m about to tuck into this and it looks insane. We also have a lovely side salad and they also dished up a burger in their signature sauce.”

When he tucked into the steak, Harry simply said: “Wow, absolutely unbelievable.” He continued: “The meat itself is very very juicy, full of flavour, it’s been cooked to perfection and covered in their signature sauce.

“With the sauce, I’m detecting a bit of butter, pepper and I think there might be a bit of brandy as well and it’s really different, I’m really liking the taste. For me, the meat is really soft and juicy. It’s incredible.”

Harry also admitted he was a bit apprehensive about the meat as he doesn’t like to see it raw or with any blood, however the restaurant did a “really good job”.

After finishing up the meal, he was then served dessert – a Pain Perdu which is a brioche dipped in milk with cinnamon then caramelised in butter and orange juice. He also received a portion of the tiramisu.

Concluding the entire experience, Harry said: “And just like that I’ve finished the meal. It was incredible, mouth-watering.

“I think what makes this place stand out is that you get to choose the meat that is cooked which I think makes it 10x better because you know what you’re getting.

“The food was cooked very very well and the staff are friendly, the service is quick and I think the prices are reasonable. So if you’re looking for a decent steakhouse in Benidorm in the Old Town this is the place to go to.”

Since he shared the clips, many people critiqued Harry on how he chose the meat to be cooked. One said: “Well done steak absolutely a no no.” Another added: “You’ve destroyed that steak… what a waste.”

Others were also amazed by how delicious it looked as one said: “Looks so yummy,” and another added: “Yum.”
