Princess Charlene of Monaco will make her first official visit to Spain on 1 June alongside Prince Albert II, marking 150 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The visit will begin at the Real Jardín Botánico in Madrid, where the royal couple are expected to open an exhibition celebrating the long-standing ties between Monaco and Spain.

The trip is seen as a significant moment for Princess Charlene, who has rarely carried out official engagements in Spain since marrying Prince Albert in 2011.

It also continues a historic connection between the Grimaldi family and the Spanish royal world, following earlier visits by Grace Kelly and Princess Caroline of Monaco.

It remains unclear whether King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia will formally meet the Monegasque royals during the visit, as the Spanish royal calendar is expected to be busy ahead of the visit of Pope Leo XIV later in June.
